As with many good stories, this one began at a party. In 2017, Gab and Micka discussed starting an a cappella group, inspired by their shared love for Home Free (a renowned American a cappella group). But at that moment, it was just an idea — a seed planted in Gab’s mind.
HOW IT STARTED
It took three years, but Gab finally took the leap. He informed Micka he had set up a website, a YouTube channel, and social media profiles. He had even secured a distributor to share their music.
Gab already liked the name « Voice Free », which sounded perfect for an a cappella group, and Micka, being the good sport he is, accepted the challenge.
And so, from the magic of a party and a spark of inspiration, « Voice Free » was born – all because two friends had a lot of ideas and the determination to make them happen.
STRUCTURE, SOUL AND SPARK
Gab and Micka, long-time friends, welcomed Victor, Gab’s cousin, in 2021.
They all bring their personality, skill set, and musical influences to the group, shaping their sound and working dynamic. This allows a highly collaborative creative process, with each member contributing ideas and feedback.
Gab’s structured methods provide a strong foundation, Micka’s emotional insights add depth, and Victor’s innovative ideas keep their a cappella music fresh and engaging.
MEET THE MEMBERS
GAB
As backbone of Voice Free, Gab is our bass singer and the group’s manager. He handles administrative, financial, and technical aspects, ensuring everything runs smoothly. His dedication and managerial skills are crucial to our success. Gab discovered his passion for a cappella music through Home Free, but his musical tastes are eclectic, ranging from metal and rock to classical and country, which he infuses into our music.
MICKA
Micka is our tenor. Micka adds dynamism and lightness to our a cappella songs. Despite battling ADHD from a young age, he has channeled his challenges into a profound love for music. Inspired by Peter Hollens and traditional rock, Micka’s emotional approach to composition enriches our a cappella music. His voice brings a unique vibrancy to our harmonies, and his dedication is evident in every performance.
VICTOR
The baritone of the group, Victor manages our social media presence and assists with Spotify promotion. His journey into a cappella music began through his friendship with Gab and Micka. Victor’s musical versatility and self-taught skills in piano, guitar, and music production (MAO) contribute significantly to our creative process. His ability to create music digitally adds a modern twist to our traditional a cappella sound.

THE COUTRY REVELATION
Our musical journey is a testament to our evolution and growth. We began with Irish folk tunes until 2022, when we experienced a « country revelation. » Since then, we have liked to qualify Voice Free as a cappella country music, but our performances may still surprise you with hints of other styles.
Gab has explored everything from metal to classical music; Micka, our tenor, brings in flavors of pop, rock, and traditional chants; and Victor, our versatile baryton, adds a sprinkle of rock, rap, reggae, and more.
